Summer 2009

Lots has happened since my last post so let me briefly get you up to date...

My oldest, Travis, graduated from Bible Heritage Christian School on May 15th. That same weekend, Kate (age 4) ran fever and stopped walking on one of her legs. It was discovered that she had an infection in her femur bone just above her knee. Kate spent 8 days in the hospital. To be able to go home, a PIK line had to be placed in her arm for her 3 times/day administrations of heavy duty antibiotics. She was a tremendous trooper for the 4 weeks this lasted. Only days before our family vacation to Panama City Beach, Florida, the line was removed and she was free and clear of all medicines and the infection. Praise be to God!

At the end of June, the 5 of us left for our beach vacation. The day we returned from our vacation, Tracy left us...July 12th, 2009. We had just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary in June. The rest of the summer seemed to slip away...

Thank goodness Jack was looking forward to starting 5th grade at a new school. Our school merged with another and now there are three 5th grade classrooms...so changing teachers, and classrooms, is very exciting for Jack. Jack celebrated his 11th birthday and FINALLY got a snake...Banded California Kingsnake. Also, Jack's Sunday School teacher from 4th grade is working on his instrument rating on his pilot's liscense. He has taken Jack flying with him several time since school has started and wants to continue to mentor Jack.

Travis still intends to pursue a degree in nursing. He earned his CNA (Certified Nurses Assistant) in September. He has just acquired a job taking care of a 24 year-old young man who is wheelchair bound. It is planned that Travis will start his college classes in the summer of 2010.

This summer, Kate took off in the pool and is now able to swim like a fish. She loves to help cook in the kitchen, read books, color and perform gymnastics. In September, Kate started pre-school where I work. She absolutely eats up "education" as well as the social aspect of the classroom.

With the divorce proceeding forward, I was blessed to be offered a position at our church. I work during school hours which enables me to take Jack, and pick him up, from school each day. Many, many people have offered such support to me and my family...meals, prayers, words of encouragement, cards and letters, scripture verses, hugs, taking my children for a while, counseling, and a shoulder to cry on. I am so very blessed! I believe that through all of this "yuck", God will be glorified...for that is my purpose each day, to glorify Him!

Easter 2009

I was fortunate to be able to travel with Travis' Senior class to Washington D.C. over Easter weekend of 2009. Having never been, I was very much looking forward to visiting our nation's capital. Thank goodness we were lead by Mr. and Mrs. Rawls who had been for the past 16 years with other classes...they carved the path that took us to some breath-taking locations and allowed our adventure to be rather flawless.

Easter Sunrise Service would have to be my favorite...the cold air in my lungs, sounds of birds, jets, praise and worship songs, finally the warm kiss of the sun on my face...all part of God's great creation!

Mt. Vernon (George Washington's home) was a place I could have spent much more time...overlooking the Potomac River, checking out every plant and tree in gardens and orchard...just the thought of walking on the grounds and in the home where HE was. WOW!

The museums were fantastic...need a day for each!

Monuments and buildings are soooo much bigger than I expected.

This is just a small taste of what we experience...hope you enjoy.

SugarBear

Kate is such a joy! She is sure ready to turn 4 in April. She attends Mothers Day Out twice a week and really enjoys the play-time as well as structured time to work on letters, sounds, numbers, and spanish. Kate is already talking of "when I am a mommy..." and "my husband..." Actually...Kate is always talking! She is an animal lover but not a thrill seeker. Kate adores her big brothers, loves Jesus and can not wait to go to heaven, is constantly hungry, likes to help mommy clean the house and could chew gum all day long.
Kate and Bruno.

Kate loves her second semester of gymnastics...everything except for having to flip over the bar.
Kate could ride her bike for hours up and down our driveway.

The park is another favorite of Kate's.

This is the weekend that Tracy and I took Travis and 6 of his friends to the cabin in Ruidoso, NM. They shared great times ice tubing, playing Madden, and playing a 3 hour long football game at White Sands, NM.
